“There has been an increase in both traffic and travellers using Paisley St James railway station, making Greenhill Road more difficult for pedestrians to cross,” said Councillor Kenny MacLaren (SNP – Paisley Northwest).
Paisley St James railway station on Greenhill Road in Paisley is the closest train station to Ferguslie Park and it looks as if there has been an increase in its use in recent years. This has led to Councillor Kenny MacLaren contacting Renfrewshire Council to request a pedestrian crossing at this part of Greenhill Road. There has also been a significant increase in road traffic within the area, especially since the building of the Paisley 2021 stadium.
Councillor Kenny MacLaren added:
“I’ve been in touch with council officers to look into the possibility of some form of pedestrian crossing in Greenhill Road next to Paisley St James railway station.
“I believe that the council previously looked installing a pedestrian crossing in this area quite a few years ago, but nothing ever came of it. Council officers will now look again at this site and hopefully will bring forward plans to improve pedestrian safety in this area by installing a pedestrian crossing.”
