“The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) should be commended for their role in promoting fire safety initiatives,” said Councillor Kenny MacLaren (SNP – Paisley Northwest) welcoming a recent report from SFRS to the Council’s Police and Fire & Rescue Scrutiny sub-committee.
This report, highlighted that at total of 405 home fire safety visits were carried out in Renfrewshire between December 2017 and January 2018. This included:
• 123 were as a result of high risk referrals from Renfrewshire Community Planning partners to SFRS
• 105 were as a result of post domestic incident responses; essentially calling at sites where there has been some sort of previous call out.
These visits are carried out by operational personnel and the community action team who conduct these visits jointly with partner agencies when appropriate.
Councillor Kenny MacLaren added:
“The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service do a great job in protecting our community and a key role in this are their various fire safety initiatives.
“These visits help to open people’s eyes to the dangers that lurk within the household and workplace which are often over looked.
“I would encourage all groups and individuals to get involved in the many campaigns on fire safety organised by our local Fire and Rescue Services.”
