“We were pleased to attend the official launch of RAMH’s SMILe card at the Barrhead Foundry”, said Councillors Mags and Kenny MacLaren (SNP – Paisley Northwest). The SMILe card, which is a self-management information leaflet in a handy credit card size, is a valuable tool which includes top tips for being the leading partner in your own support and recovery.
The launch included details of how the SMILe card came about with the involvement of RAMH clients and ambassadors, a guest speaker slot from St Mirren legend Tony Fitzpatrick and an excellent and informative presentation from Robert who has used physical exercise as a self-management tool. More on Robert’s story can be found at: https://ramh.org/roberts-journey/
Councillor Mags MacLaren said:
“Self-management is a way of living and working that means people living with long term conditions feel more in control of their own health and wellbeing.
“It means people living with long term conditions being in ‘the driving seat’ and it supports people to live their lives better, on their terms.”
Councillor Kenny MacLaren added:
“This was an excellent event by RAMH and highlights the great work that they do within our community. It is always great to hear from Tony Fitzpatrick but it was also very informative to hear from Robert and how he is using physical exercise to help improve his mental as well as his physical health”.
