Councillors cancel surgeries but are still available to help

Following the latest advice from the Scottish Government and from CoSLA (Convention of Scottish Local Authorities), Councillors Kenny and Mags MacLaren have cancelled their scheduled surgeries for the rest of March and April.  They will review the situation later before making a decision on holding surgeries in May.

Cllr Kenny MacLaren explained:

“It’s important to follow the advice given by the First Minister and her health advisers and that includes limiting social contact.  Although we may be fine there is always the danger that we may have coronavirus and could pass it onto our constituents.  This is especially a concern for elderly constituents and others in the high risk groups who could be more seriously affected by this virus.

“Constituents can still contact us by phone or email if they require our assistance and we will do our best for anyone who needs our help.  We are also looking into the option of holding online surgeries if constituents would prefer that option.  However, due to the current crisis there may be some delays in how the council deliver its services during this period.”
