“This is good news for bus passengers as it will help them know when their next bus is due”, said Cllr Kenny MacLaren and Cllr Mags MacLaren (SNP – Paisley Northwest).
A number of bus stops along the West end corridor in Paisley are being adapted to have real time information displays installed next to them. The aim of these displays is to let passengers know which buses are coming next and if they are running on time. Renfrewshire Council have been working with Strathclyde Passenger Transport (SPT), and with funding from the Scottish Government, installing these displays on a number of routes.
Cllr Kenny MacLaren said;
“Having reliable and real time passenger information for passengers is essential. Quite rightly there is a demand from bus users, local authority colleagues as well as bus operators to ensure up to date service information is available to the travelling public.
“It’s great that more bus passengers in Renfrewshire will now have high quality information available at more bus stops on when their bus is due. Hopefully this will encourage bus operators to make sure their services run on time.”
Cllr Mags MacLaren added:
“Real time information provides passengers with even more confidence when travelling and will hopefully encourage more people to use bus services within Renfrewshire.
“The effectiveness and quality of the new displays will be continually monitored to ensure they provide an accurate, high-quality service for passengers.”
