Cllr Kenny MacLaren welcomes investment in Retail Improvement Fund

“The Retail Improvement Fund has helped many local businesses improve not only their shopfronts but also the appearance of our local retail areas”, said Councillor Kenny MacLaren (SNP – Paisley Northwest), welcoming the council’s budget decision to invest an additional £70,000 to supplement the existing Retail Improvement Fund.

This fund continues to deliver significant improvements in Renfrewshire’s town centres.  This fund supports owners and leaseholders of commercial premises in retail areas throughout Renfrewshire who are looking to improve the external fronts of their properties. The grant can cover up to 70% of eligible costs with a minimum grant of £1000 and a maximum of £8000.

There will be further details appearing soon on the council’s website on how to apply to this fund.

Councillor Kenny MacLaren added:

“The Retail Improvement Fund aims to encourage a high standard of physical improvements to the fronts of properties in retail areas in Renfrewshire.

“Grant funding is available to assist qualifying occupiers to carry out a range of improvements.

“Since it first launched in 2012, the Scheme has helped over 150 businesses throughout Renfrewshire improve their properties and has assisted in returning around 40 vacant units to beneficial use.”
